So Thursday night I attended the First Annual Denver Startup Comedy Showcase presented by TiE Rockies. I was fortunate to be an intern at TiE Rockies and highly encourage others to join the community. They have chapters all over the world!
The event featured entrepreneur and 5-time Emmy award winner, Paul Wagner.
(First and foremost, how does someone win so many Emmy’s?)
As the event was kicking off I had an interesting mental note: We are blending the startup and entrepreneurial environment with a more entertainment focused direction. I think the current environment we live in, where we idolize entrepreneurs as rockstars, is starting to breed a type of roadmap where you’re going to start seeing more entertainment showcase business. I mean shows like Shark Tank and even Undercover Boss to some extent have proven the concept to be successful, but just as I prediction I foresee more blends of entertainment be intermixed with more granular levels of startup life.
In any case, the event started, and Paul nailed it. A talented man with a comedic black-belt he’s actually a seasoned standup comic, as well as tons of work creating videos and shows (hence the 5 Emmy’s) and interesting enough worked on developing FunnyOrDie.com with Will Ferrell.
I got to introduce myself to Krista Morgan, CEO for P2B Investors where one of my friends actually works as a Marketing Analyst. Krista, of course, along with Liz Van Vuuren, who I met at a BeVisible event a few weeks, ago run the very well known Women Who Startup Podcast.
I look forward to continuing to meet and talk to more people in the entrepreneurial community as we approach two major events that I have on my radar, Millennial Week in Denver and Denver Startup Week. Stay Tuned!
